A statue of a seated dog. The statue was carved from a block of expanded polystyrene, which was then cast directly into steel using the lost-wax process. The statue gained national attention when the illusionist Derren Brown used the statue for a social experiment in 2011. The three-month project convinced a large part of Todmorden people, and many other visitors to the town, that the statue could imbue good luck on anyone who stroked its head. A programme was broadcast on 11 November 2011 based on the results ('Derren Brown; The Experiments: The Secret of Luck', C4).
