Two young women in a drawing room with a trug full of flowers. One woman, in a white dress, sits on a leather upholstered sofa to the right looking up flowers in a large book on her lap, a wide brimmed hat tied round her neck and resting against her shoulders. The second woman, in a dark dress, lounges across the arm of the sofa, studying a pair of scissors in her hand in a slightly bored fashion. The overflowing trug sits at their feet to the left of the sofa, single flowers and leaves spilling out onto the floor. There is a panelled wall behind them with a door and embroidered bell pull to the left.
