This painting was also inspired by a parable; the Good Samaritan. Peering over to the other side of the water we can see the back of two figures, who are heading into the distance without concern. These figures represent those who have ignored someone in need, they seem to almost blend into the scenery. The most prominent figure in this work is the Samaritan alongside his horse, stretching out his helping hands, and cloaked in bright hues of blue and red. The man in need is hurt and reaches out to the Samaritan for help.
