Positioned atop a bronze Carr's Table Water Biscuit stand two women, suspended in a scene of jovial conversation. These women are Carr's factory workers, yet the conversation represented is an impossible one, each woman being from a different time in the factory's history. On the left-hand side is a modern female factory worker, distinguished by her modern dress in comparison to her companion, who is clad in a more traditional factory uniform.
