A domestic interior with two men seated at a gaming table bearing a single playing card and small silver tray. A man to the right sits cross-legged looking at his companion and handing him a long white clay pipe, the man to the left sits with a glass resting on one knee, taking the pipe in one hand. A third man stands behind the table to the left of the centre, holding up a glass roemer in one hand, the other grasping a stoneware jug on the table. There is an open doorway in the background to the right, through which a serving woman carrying a jug and three pipes looks towards the men. A stoneware bottle and silver bowl are on the ground in the bottom right corner, and a small dog is standing to the left. A sword and hat are resting on a chair in the bottom left corner, and a broken clay pipe and discarded playing card are on the ground to the right.
