This small painting of the Bay of Naples is typical of the veduta esatta (accurate view) painting that flourished in Naples during this period, as they became popular souvenirs for the many visitors to the city on the ‘Grand Tour’ of Europe. Painting on copper allowed the artist to use a very fine brush, depicting the topography of the bay in minute detail.
