Fedden is best known as a still-life painter. Her works, such as this painting, are characterised by her love of decorative pattern, simple forms and flattened space. She paints at home, in her houseboat on the Thames, using favourite objects in her studio and her cat. She paints these favourite objects in a strong stylised way.
