This study depicts a seated woman sat face on to the viewer. The whole figure can be seen, she sits with a large book on her lap. Her right hand is on a stack of papers on a table. She looks off to her left with her hand outright next to her. There is a small symbol in the bottom left corner which is possibly the artist's monogram.
