This oil painting depicts Stonegate, close to its junction with Little Stonegate, looking towards the Minster which is faintly visible in the distance. Mulberry Hall is the most prominent building depicted, and the Abbey Star Inn sign is also shown. The street scene is enlivened by several figures, including some at the window of a carriage, driven by a coachman in a top hat.

This view remains mostly unchanged from when it was painted.
