Still life of a table covered in a white tablecloth, a white wooden chair and a white jug to the left. In the centre there is a dressing mirror with fruit in front of it and another jug with roses.

John Cunningham, RGI, studied and later taught at Glasgow School of Art. Cunningham was known for his distinctive still lifes, landscapes and interiors. He lived in a studio flat in the centre of Glasgow, which was designed by Sir John Burnett expressly for the use of an artist. It was here, in this unique ambience, that his still lifes were painted and where his landscapes were finished.
