This painting came into the Collection following Alan Windsor's solo exhibition 'Orchestrations: Paintings and Etchings' in November 2004 at the Lewis Elton Gallery. He studied at the Regional College of Art, Manchester, 1949–1954, The Slade School of Fine Art, London, 1955–1956 and was awarded a French Government Scholarship, 1956–1957. From 1966–1969 he studied History of Art at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London. He has had a dual career as an artist and art historian maintaining an exhibition and academic publishing schedule. He has held teaching posts in a number of Higher Education establishments including The West Surrey College of Art and Design (now University College for the Creative Arts), University of Guelph, Canada, University of Reading, Colgate University, New York and the Courtauld Institute of Art.
