Oil on canvas depicting a starboard view of RMS 'Titanic' steaming on a blue sea with a small launch in the foreground. The ship bears a dark blue jack at the bow, a US flag at the foremast, a swallow-tail blue flag with a yellow patch in the centre on the rear mast and a saltire white cross on a red field as an ensign at the stern (which should, for a British ship, be a red ensign). The foreground launch bears horizontally striped flags and this at present unaccountable combination accords with the generally naive nature of the whole image. It is signed 'Alfred Gagnon' in capitals in the bottom left corner, though for some reason (given the name is perfectly clear) it was previously recorded as 'Alfred Gaynor'. It is from the Lord-MacQuitty Collection of 'Titanic' memorabilia, but the documentation explaining why it is there has yet to be checked.
