Stanley Price Morgan Bligh was born in Brecon and educated at Eton and Oxford. He was called to the Bar in 1895. He practised on the South Wales circuit and also wrote several books on psychology. He inherited the Cilmeri Estate near Builth wells from his mother. At the outbreak of the First World War he began to concentrate on pasture improvement on his estate. He was a leading pioneer in this field, with scientists holding experiments on his land.
