Rothschild does not confine herself to a limited repertoire of materials or production techniques in her art; she sometimes uses traditional casting processes, sometimes making works from assemblages of found objects and materials. She has used paper, plastic, leather and fabric as well as metal to explore particular ideas and resonances in her work.

In some cases the sculptures take on a delicate, linear character which resembles three-dimensional drawing in space. This is the case with 'Stairways' in which a geometric installation of metal rods supported by cast hands is suspended above the architectural space occupied by the viewer.
