This painting has been badly damaged at least twice during its lifetime, and it is believed the right-hand side of the image has been cropped back substantially, creating a square rather than rectangular painting. It also has substantial areas of repainting.

It is an interesting image as it is known to depict the Reverend Augustus Gwyn, Vicar of Prescot, and may depict other Prescot people, rather than just generic figures.
