Roger Mostyn (c.1559/1560–1642), of Mostyn Hall, Flintshire (Clwyd), married Mary, daughter of Sir John Wynn of Gwydir. A prominent figure in North Wales, he was knighted in 1608 and served as Sheriff for Anglesey from 1589 to 1590, for Flintshire from 1608 to 1609 and 1626 to 1627, and as MP for Flintshire from 1621 to 1622. This picture is based on a full-length portrait of the sitter, dated 1634, at Mostyn Hall.
