The sitter was a keen huntsman and belonged to the Caledonian Hunt, later the Royal Caledonian Hunt after the King’s visit in 1822. He is depicted wearing his red hunting jacket with green facecloth collar and lapels, trimmed with metal buttons and silver thread.
