Sir Henry Lennard became the first one of the Lennard family to hold the title of Lord Dacre. Henry, as well as his father Samson, lived in an extravagant manner which resulted in the disposal of multiple family properties. Sir Henry, like other members of the Lennard family, was active in the aristocracy circles. For instance, he attended the funeral of Henry Prince of Wales. He was also a close friend of William Earl of Pembroke and his brother in law, Sir Philip Sydney.
