Copied after Michael Rysbrack, the subject stands in ceremonial robes, looking to his right, upon a plinth a square pedestal with inscribed plaques on each face, and a square base.

in raised lettering on a metal plaque on the front of the pedestal: SIR HANS SLOANE / 16TH APRIL 1660 / TO / 11TH JANUARY 1753 / BORN KILLYLEAGH; and in raised lettering on a small plaque on the base: "UNVEILED ON 16TH APRIL 2002 / BY / THE HRH THE DUKE OF YORK, / CVO. ADC. BARON KILLYLEAGH."; and similarly on the right side of the pedestal: THIS COPY OF THE STATUE BY RYSBRACK, / ERECTED IN THE CHELSEA PHYSIC GARDEN IN 1712 / WAS PLACED HERE BY THE PEOPLE OF KILLYLEAGH / TO MARK THE MILLENNIUM / AND THE REGENERATION OF THE HARBOUR AREA / AD 2002; and similarly on the back of the pedestal: SIR HANS SLOANE / PRESIDENT OF THE ROYAL SOCIETY / PRESIDENT OF THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS / ROYAL PHYSICIAN / COLLECTOR, SCIENTIST, ANTIQUARY, PHILANTHROPIST / HIS COLLECTION FORMED THE BASIS FOR THE BRITISH MUSEUM / HE PROMOTED THE MEDICINAL USE OF QUININE, CHOCOLATE / AND VACCINATION; and similarly on the left side of the pedestal: "I HAD FROM MY YOUTH BEEN VERY MUCH PLEASED WITH / THE STUDY OF PLANTS AND OTHER PARTS OF NATURE, / WHICH WERE TO BE FOUND IN THE FIELDS OR IN THE / GARDENS OF THESE PARTS"
