A portrait of Charles Morgan, 1st Baron Tredegar, an English peer and member of the House of Lords, where he represented the constituency of Brecon. He was Lord Lieutenant of Brecknockshire and was appointed High Sheriff of Brecknockshire in 1850. He was created Baron Tredegar in 1859. The portrait was commissioned for Brecon in November 1876, following the sitter’s death, based on a lithograph of 1874 by George Black and a photograph that Black may also have had reference to in making it.
