Architect; his many public commissions included the principal block of the Victoria and Albert Museum (1891), the University of Birmingham (1906–1909), and Admiralty Arch. Webb received many honours and was both President of RIBA (1902–1904), and the Royal Academy (1919–1924). A version of the portrait of Webb at the RIBA but showing him against the backdrop of his buildings for the V&A.
