In 1905 Sidney Sanders co-founded the jewellery firm Sanders & Co., opening the first branch at 87 Streatham High Road. In 1920 he left to take over the firm of James Walker Ltd, considerably expanding it to become the second largest multiple retailer of jewellery and silverware in Britain.
