Thickly painted view of the port of Sharpness on the River Severn, with moored rowing boats in the foreground. There is a steep bank to the left with a small shed on stilts at its end, with roofs of houses visible over the brow of the boat nearby. There is a wide river mouth visible to the right in the background behind the bank, with hills behind. The paintwork is in thick impasto and is reminiscent of an impressionist style of painting. The colours of the painting consist of browns and greens where the verge extends upwards, the boats are represented in a very light brown colour. The water consists of small patches of colour mirroring the movement of the water, both green and light-brown can be detected. The sky is a fine blue colour with only a few clouds visible.
