This mid-twentieth-century mural painting depicts Shakespeare and some of his characters. Shakespeare's face is derived partly from the Droeshout engraving and Holy Trinity Church monument bust and is also partly a self portrait of the artist. The female figure at Shakespeare's feet is modelled on the artist's second wife Karen Keene. The characters are Romeo and Juliet in an outdoor setting to the left, a 'merry wife', Shylock, Feste from Twelfth Night, Lady Macbeth sleepwalking and Falstaff.
