Self portrait of the artist in the impressionistic style, depicting the bust section of the figure. The figure looks rather ominously at the viewer, we are positioned in his direct line of gaze, which is even more disconcerting as the eyes are not painted in any great detail. The background is mottled with many illuminated shades of white and yellow, there is sketchy detail on the dark jacket and white cravat, the artist has a full beard and moustache.
