This sheet has a dynamic figure study by Tintoretto on either side. Here, a seated man has been drawn in a contrapposto pose with arms stretched away from his body. It is thought to have been drawn from a lay figure (a mannequin or dummy), rather than being a study from life. The artist Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723–1792) once owned this drawing, the verso of which is listed under the same accession number in the Barber Collection.
