Hans Schwarz
1922–2003
Artist in oil and watercolour, sculptor, illustrator, teacher and writer, born in Vienna, Austria, where he attended the Art School, 1937–8. He was expelled by the Nazis in 1938 and moved to Birmingham in 1939, working as a labourer, was interned in 1940–1, then attended Birmingham School Arts and Crafts, 1941–3.
