Douglas Robertson Bisset
1908–2000
Sculptor and teacher, born in Strichen, Aberdeenshire. He served his apprenticeship with an architectural sculptor in the city and then studied at Glasgow School of Art, 1930–3, with Archibald Dawson, winning the Newbery Gold Medal and a John Keppie Scholarship, also serving as an assistant teacher; at the Royal Danish Academy, 1933; then as a Rome Scholar attended the British School in Rome, 1934–5.
