This work is from a 'Self Portrait by Proxy' series where Peter Harris examined his own identity. He approached figures who had influenced his life and invited each of them to give him an idea for a painting. His mother suggested combining a famous person with a subject from nature; she then titled the juxtaposition of James Dean and a blackbird 'Save the World'. 1967 is the year she entered the artist's life, when he was born.
