For many years the Lewis family held a licence permitting the netting of salmon in the restricted area of Porthmadog harbour. This painting depicts the very last drag made by Harry Lewis and Greth Michael Lewis in the year 2000 before relinquishing their hereditary entitlement. Dwindling stocks of salmon negotiating the Glaslyn rendered the whole exercise totally unviable as a commercial enterprise.
