The subject standing in the robes of a Catholic archbishop, a shepherd's crook in his right hand, is upon a square plinth placed upon a two-stage pedestal. The upper part is inscribed on the front, and the lower part bearing on all four faces a bronze plaque, three of which illustrate scenes from the subject's life (blessing a crowd of men around a fire, visiting a sick old man, and preaching to young men), each with carved Irish script captions, and all on a two-stepped base.
