Sketch of a river landscape at Rye Harbour? with a distant view of the town of Rye, Sussex; foreground, the banks of a river; middleground, on the left, trees and a cottage, on the right, a gate, sign post and fences, in the centre, a bridge with lock crossing over the River Rother? on top which stand two figures one of which is a fisherman; background, the skyline of Rye with rooftops, trees, Rye Castle and the squat tower of St Michael's Church; sky, birds in flight. Drawn mainly in outline with softer grade pencil used for the middleground. Paper has the watermark 'F.J.HEAD & CO' and is creased horizontally towards the upper margin
