Born in Guernsey, Charles Coker began drawing when at St Anne's School in Alderney. He became interested in photography while working in the art department at the Guernsey Evening Press and became an RAF photographer during the war. He returned to the Press after the war and began to paint prolifically in oils in later life. His subjects were mostly coastal scenes and several of his watercolours and drawings were printed as cards.
