A three-stage structure that narrows progressively as it rises from a dodecagonal water basin, with a smaller quatrefoil basin projecting from the central cornice. The cylindrical lower stage is divided by scroll buttresses into four separate compartments, each of which has a pair of mermaids seated in mirror-reversed poses on either side of a projecting scallop shell into which they pour water from ewers raised on their shoulders. Enormously enlarged lion masks occupy the central spaces above the shells. On the middle stage, which is square in plan, two pairs of elaborately draped female figures are seated on small volutes placed on corner buttresses decorated with dolphin heads. Subsidiary quadrant basins supported by aquatic cherubs are inserted between them.
