Robert Platt (1900–1978) was an influential president of the Royal College of Physicians, London. He instigated the RCP’s move from Pall Mall East to Regent’s Park, and was the first wholetime professor to become president. He was responsible for the RCP’s progressive interest in postgraduate education and preventative medicine in the late twentieth century. Platt wrote over 90 papers on a wide range of medical subjects, as well as several books and an autobiography.
