Larry Ham was born in Newquay, Cornwall. His first professional experience with paint and brush was through his apprenticeship with a decorating firm in Newquay, where he learnt to make and mix paint. Shortly after this Larry moved to London where he became enrolled at Chelsea School of Art. In 1958 Larry married and moved to Guernsey with Patricia (Paddy), and became involved with the local art group, ‘Focus’. It was not until the early 1980s however that the locally based Coach House Gallery approached him, providing commercial opportunities and a direct link to the art-buying public. Larry continued this relationship with the Couch House up until his final exhibition in 2007. He also exhibited at the Cooper and Leicester Square Galleries, London, at the Newlyn Society in Cornwall as well as internationally in St Stephan’s in Vienna.
