Richard Plantagenet Campbell Temple–Nugent–Brydges–Chandos–Grenville. Third Duke of Buckingham and Chandos, C.C.S.I., C.I.E. Lord President of the Council, 1866–1867; Secretary of State for the Colonies, 1867–1868; Governor of the Presidency of Madras, 1875–1880; Lord Lieutenant and Custos Rotulorum, 1866–1867; Chairman of Quarter Sessions, 1868–1875 and 1881–1889; Colonel of the Royal Bucks Yeomanry. Painted by Sir Francis Grant, P.R.A. and Exhibited at the Royal Academy, 1873.
