The sculpture was bought by Sir Philip Hendy in 1963 for £10 and sold to Harlow Art Trust for the same amount. It wasn’t sited until 1970. A cast of the bronze entitled ‘Returning Home’ was sold at Christies Amsterdam on 17th November 2004 and is inscribed 'H. Muller Dfd Bronceguss V. B. Forster Dusseldorf'. It is undated but has the same dimensions as this artwork. 'Bronceguss V. B. Forster Dusseldorf' inscribed on the bronze refers to the German foundry that cast the work.
