In the 'Reflections' series some of the works have a flat physical surface whilst others have a painterly and abstract quality. There is a deliberate clash of style, imagery and methods of working within each etching and this builds up the tension between the figurative and abstract images within each work.

Shave comments: "The idea of putting disparate things together rather than trying to make one succinct statement became my solution. By presenting an array of possibilities in the paintings the process of juxtaposition became an important part of the work."
