bronze plate fixed to the plinth: THIS STATUE, SCULPTED BY LADY ANNETTE YARROW AND UNVEILED ON 1ST AUGUST 1979, WAS FINANCED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION AS A TRIBUTE TO RED RUM, LOCALLY TRAINED AND STABLED, THREE TIMES WINNER OF THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS STEEPLE-CHASE, THE GRAND NATIONAL (1973, 1974 AND 1977)
