This small painting is typical of Frost's expressionistic abstracts of the late 1950s. Two dominant forms in blue and mauve enter the composition from the sides, appearing to compress a concertina-like structure of black, blue and purple lines. At this time, Frost used coloured 'wedges' to tighten his imagery. This compositional device generates tension by penetrating the boundaries between adjacent forms.
