A painted lead statue group of a young male soldier wearing a form of Roman armour, a helmet and with a cloak over his shoulder. He is striding forward with his right leg and is carrying, clasped to his chest, a female figure that he is looking up at. Her upper body is naked, she has drapery around her waist and her right arm is thrown up into the air. Beneath the group a male, wearing a loin cloth, crouches on the ground as the soldier steps over him. The figure holds a handle (possibly of a knife now lost) within his right hand, and clasps at a rock with his left. To the far side there is a reclining figure of a child with its right hand touching its nose. The quality of the figure is very high as testified by the chased work of the hem line of the soldiers dress and the detailing of his armour, belt, as well as the cherub's hair.
