Four-sided obelisk with stepped and sloping base. Each face has a pediment above from which rises the pointed shaft and a decorative incised line just in from the edge. The site for St Paul's Recreation Ground was purchased on 28 May 1888 by Brentford Local Board with money that had been raised to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1887. Due to delays however, it was not opened until 1889.
