A polished red granite obelisk with a stepped granite plinth and pedimented stem set on a stone pedestal. The monument was erected by public subscription as near as possible in the middle of his estate. Sir Richard Green Price (1803–1887) was the member of parliament for the Radnor Boroughs from 1862 to 1869 and the county of Radnor from 1880 to 1885. He was closely involved with the promotion of railway lines in the county. It was largely through his efforts that the Central Wales Railway was constructed between Knighton and Llandrindod and also railway lines to Presteigne and New Radnor. He was chairman of the Kington and Eardisley Railway, on the boards of the Leominster and Kington Railway, and the Leominster and Bromyward Railway.
