Rectangular portrait of a woman in a gilt frame. The portrait shows a woman, her face and body towards the viewer, her gaze slightly to the left. She has long black hair with ringlets at either side, dark eyebrows, blue eyes and a straight nose. She is wearing a short-sleeved black dress which exposes her shoulders. The dress has a narrow white trim at the shoulders and chest and at the ends of the sleeves. She also wears a single necklace, the centre of which is tucked into the top of her dress, a ring on the fourth finger of her right hand and a dark bracelet on her right wrist. In her right hand she holds a pink rose at the level of her chest. She appears to be wearing a black glove on her left hand. She sits in an armchair. A piece of red fabric is draped over the back of the chair and part of the arm at right.
