The portrait medallions are grouped in two pairs in the channelled ashlar pillars at first floor level and are arranged to face each other across the Diocletian windows. Each is enclosed by a wreath with a margent below. The subjects from left to right are: Shakespeare facing Sir Walter Scott; Beethoven facing Mozart. The fifth medallion is unidentified and is in a cartouche in the right hand pediment. Additional minor carvings include a series of cornucopia in the scrolls flanking the second storey windows on Bath Street and on the corner bay.
