A portrait bench which is part of the national cycle network and celebrates three celebrities chosen by the local community. Comedian, singer, presenter, and writer Sir Lenny Henry, CBE, from Dudley; Jane Sixsmith, MBE, the first British female hockey player to compete in four Olympic Games, who during her career won Olympic, European Cup and Commonwealth medals; Ellie Simmonds, OBE, is the third person to be selected by the local community. The British former Paralympian swimmer and TV presenter competed in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing at the age of 13, winning two gold medals. She had further success winning gold medals in the 2012 and 2016 games. The artwork consists of a simple bench with three freestanding steel silhouettes. The work will add to the 250 existing figures already installed around the country.
