Still life comprising a woven basket containing pomegranates interlaced with vibrant green leaves, with a small jug in the background to the left. The paintwork is thickly applied, with various coloured tones resulting in a decorative surface. This work is an example of English Impressionism, specifically Fauvism. Painters of this tradition sought to capture the essence of what they saw with particular emphasis on the effects of light on a subject.
