A winding path or driveway leads to the grand Scottish Polmaise Castle, partially hidden by trees in full leaf. Colonel and Lady Angres Murrary moved into the mansion on 6 August 1868, leaving their former home now known as ‘Old Polmaise’. Colonel Murray got remarried after Agnes’ death in 1877, to Lucy Evelyn Towneley of Townley Hall (Townley Hall is now a museum).
