Roedd Capten Vivian Hewitt (1888–1965) yn beilot arloesol a anwyd yn Grimsby i deulu bragu cyfoethog. Ar ôl i'w dad farw'n ifanc dychwelodd ei fam gyda'i phlant i fyw yn ei phentref genedigol, Bodfari yn Sir Ddinbych. Yn ei ieuenctid dechreuodd Hewitt ymddiddori mewn hedfan ac adeiladodd gleider heb bŵer iddo hedfan ar dir eu tŷ. Arweiniodd ei ddiddordeb mewn hedfan iddo ddod yn un o’r bobl gyntaf yn y DU i gael trwydded beilot. Ar y 26ain o Ebrill 1912 hedfanodd awyren fach adain sengl o'r Rhyl i Ddulyn; un o'r hediadau hiraf ar y pryd a chyflawniad enfawr yn hanes hedfan. Cofrestrodd ar gyfer gwasanaeth milwrol yn ystod y Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf, gan ddod yn beilot prawf ar gyfer y Morlys. Ar ôl y rhyfel rhoddodd y gorau i hedfan a symudodd i Ynys Môn, gan brynu Bryn Aber yn Cemlyn.
